In my opinion the long threads, with each post being a complete item, as opposed to just an arbitrary 140 character slice of a single longer piece of prose, is a great use of twitter. It allows each point in your article to be referenced, responsed to and discussed. It is genuinely one of the only ways in which I see twitter used as a journalistic media that is better than other, more traditional forms of online content.
