Fitted a bigger front flap to my commuter...
It's been great at keeping my feet less wet during the last 3 days of rain. Also, my BB area/chain seems cleaner than usual (after washing the bike for the first time in months at the weekend). Maybe Jan Heine was right...

Let's have a pic.

Anybody fitted mudguards over WTB Horizons and would offer a recommendation? Would like stainless steel, smooth if possible.
GB does 650b 50 mm which I guess is gonna be too narrow. Going to 26" they do 60 mm which I guess is gonna be too wide.
VO does the Zeppelin in 650b 52 mm which sounds a better fit but I'm not a fan of the profile.
edit - this bike has 650x60mm guards fitted apparently and it doesn't look too bad. Should I just go for 26" 60mm from GB?

Definitely go 60mm

What mudguards for a road bike (genesis equilibrium) with 700*30 tyres?
I had a set of 35mm wide SKS Longboards, but they're arguably not wide enough. I've snapped the front one and am tempted to just buy another set but would appreciate other recommendations before I do. They're cheap, have good coverageand they fit on the bike, so I'm probably willing to accept their theoretically sub-optimal width for this particular tyre...

I've used 35 and 45 longboards over 30c tires. 45 definitely better, but you may have no room in an equilibrium
Ideally you'll use 40mm wide. Only found Zefal paragon, but never tried -

Thanks, appreciate that. I think I'll stick with the longboards.

GB 26"

Taking delivery of a brother big bro that I want to make into a commuter for winter. It's currently got a 29er dynamo wheel set with 2.4 tyres on. Should I:
Swap out the tyres for something narrower and fit some 700c guards
Get the wheels rebuilt as 650b and get GB zeppelins and whatever the biggest tyres that will fit under them
Try the honjo simworks 65mm guards
Please advise

Amazing. Thanks!

I'm using Kinesis Fend Offs. Not cheap but not offensively expensive. Fits a 30mm tyre nicely. I've got it covering 28mm Pirelli Velo 4S on a wide rim and the coverage is perfect.

Just ordered some bluemels, is there a go to flap for maximum coverage? Nothing leather!

Fitted 2 sets of SKS Longboards and 1 set of normal SKS things (no flaps) this weekend. So worth it for coverage, but those strut mounts...if I never see another it'll be too soon.

I have one of those Raw ones that's been good but the sticker came off it pretty quickly so now it's just black plastic. I could have made that myself for cheap/free (I probably have some suitable plastic kicking about in the form of a document wallet or such).
Think I'll make my own when my Bluemels arrive.

29 X 2.35" Schwalbe G One Speeds.
Non-plua 650b would mess with the geo quite a bit.

100% this

I might have a go at a DIY flap then, I've definitely got something I could butcher for it lying around.

Mine will be the 2017 version so doesn't take full 650b+ anyway I don't think. I guess the 65mm sim works would provide good coverage over 2.35s and that's probably the biggest I can manage.

Any thoughts on Condor Pioggia mudguards? https://www.condorcycles.com/products/condor-pioggia-alloy-mudguards
Decent price and look tho.

There the same as the Radial ones which were £17. They’re good but the grub screws on the bits that clamp the guard corrode very quickly and make adjustment after initial fitting impossible
-
• #3872
They're also not that wide. Chromoplastics are better.

I found this out on Friday. Not ideal on a bike with track ends where some rest 'guard fettling is basically inevitable.

Just fitted 53mm Bluemels to my CdF with 43mm continental sport contacts underneath. If anyone’s interested or thinking about doing the same. Didn’t require too much adjustment.

I like my radials. Not the best coverage (better with flaps) but been rock solid for about a year and a half. I just installed the narrower ons on my brothers bike.
When I got them they were £10 a pop on the radial site- And definitely good value at that price. (Don’t think I’d spend £40 tbh)
If you’re worried about the grubs you could replace them with stainless ones...?
@Eejit @amey awesome thanks. Will go for those then.
