Master is easy to scout if it's gone that suddenly. And it's easy to change. Slave is not, it's a concentric job which means gearbox etc out.
They aren't a common thing to go. The hose as it snakes around the bulkhead esp on petrol models does get pretty crusty, hopefully just a hose.
Concentric slaves, never buy a cheap one, too much labour to replace when it inevitably shits the bed in 3 months time (learnt this lesson already).
Diesela don't get as hot and have the patented volvo anti corrosion system to stop anything under the bonnet ever ever corroding ;)
Well it's master or slave cylinder leaking, either way I'm not rebuilding it, nor do I have the patience to bleed myself, so I'm just going to pay someone to do it.
Now if I was used to the engine bay and I'd been working on it for a while already it'd be a different matter.
So far I've only serviced it myself and done the odd job. When it's dry, warm, sunny, and the days are longer then I'll start taking the engine bay apart.
