I originally offered $625 after he told me that he had turned down offers of $550 but he said the minimum he would take would be $650.
I tend to over analyse big purchases like this at the best of times but part of me is thinking I don't need any more watches. Another part is saying just buy a new Ocean One in Steel and put the scratches on it yourself over time. The other part is saying stop being a fanny and just buy this one.
This is the bit I struggle with when I think about actually stumping up the big cash for what I've always actually wanted which is a Speedy which leads me to believe that I'll probably never actually get to the point where I feel like I can pull the trigger on one. I think I'm destined for a life of cheap/affordable watches.

If I were you, I'd walk away from it. Hes asking too much. If you really want that watch, you'll be able to get a better condition one for the same price or less.
Separately, if a watch dealer ever described a watch in that condition to me as mint, I'd turn round and walk out of the door.
"MINT condition Steinhart Ocean One Titanium 500 Premium." Literally the first line in the ad. He can go fuck himself.
For me, there is nothing wrong with the watch as you have described it and going by the photos. I also really like the model for the same reasons you mention...it is actually quite unique. I'd just be looking for a little more money off it due to the desk diving scratches though. Personally speaking, I'd be tempted to get the credit card out if they went below $600 CAD.
Those bracelet marks are entirely normal for a well used daily wearer. Does it come as a full set with warranty card?
