... ouch - Rock Hill ... always thought that would be good/horrible enough for an urban hill climb ...

I think it's doable but it'd be hard. The wall on the left is particularly annoying if you're not doing it from a standing start.

Years ago I was on the Watership Down 100 and this guy was riding pretty late /slow like us, we kept passing him stopped before the bottom of each climb, then he’d pass us on the way up, and we’d next see him at the bottom of the following climb. I always wondered if it was worth trying, I think he may have just waited for his heart to rest but not enough to get cold.

By all means get this ride going on a Sunday, by all means adapt the route, but never, ever remove the pub from the route.

Doh, we just finished in the cafe and headed home. Had a nice coffee and a natter in a place just down the road from the exit of the Canonbie long side.

Yeah was great to meet everyone - going up steep hills less so. I've been reminded I'm supposed to be finishing off the London Loop walk next Sunday :-(. But let's keep it up!
