Just buy a fucking jar of mincemeat, knock out some pastry, add some extra booze or something (cointreau? creme de menthe? i don't fucking know, but if you're contemplating cranberry why not go the whole fucking hog and add some apple schnapps?),make your pies, take some pictures of pies, eat pies. rate pies.

had some of the much vaunted Asda mince pies over the weekend. Don't live up to the hype. Filling is great - aided by a healthy splash of booze - but the pastry is sub par. Didn't see any reason to rank it any higher than my standard everyday mince pie: the co-op irresistible ones (the luxury ones, not the brandy buttercream abominations).
