A few reasons really, I'd like it to look as original as possible and rear engine would mean complicated ducting, ruining the interior and messing with the weight balance. I'm not sure I fancy having a high horsepower, short wheelbase, rearward balanced car built and driven by me because I'm completely untrained in both vehicle design and competition driving!
No need for a big bang motor in a car anyways, they're kind of bike specific - you've all the rubber you need with 4 wheels!
Go Hayabusa, they can take 300+ boosted bhp almost stock. An stock they have midrange grunt that crushes the litre bike engines. Of the litre bike engines, GSXR is by far the torquiest, CBR / R1 somewhere in the middle and ZX10 a rev monster.

Oh ZX12Rs are frigging monsters too and they couldn't give them away a few years back.
