I rode half of it a few weeks ago, from Guildford to Christ's Hospital. Truth to say, it was pleasant but a bit dull. I think it needed company
Is this on the London - Brighton off road route? I remember doing a bit of railway line on that and it being great because we made up some time, but it was a bit bland as it was all in a steep cutting
That's made me remember a bit of route near Coventry that I used to commute out to an NR training centre on, i think it went close to or through Warwick Uni campus....cant seem to find it now. I always found that route rather 'functional'.

Tavistock to Plymouth is the king of these. Downhill all the way, stunning views. Only problem is you end up in Plymouth.

Interesting thread.
I bought this book ages ago with a plan to see if any of the 'walks' were rideable.
Oops. Double posted, but image attached to next post.

We use the middlewood way a lot with the kids including going over the top of middlewood station- allegedly the only station in uk without road access- it’s a short walk down a footpath and onto the bike route- no idea how this used to work when it was a train line

Went to school near there.
We didn’t need roads then either.
Just cobbles and silk

The Luton, Dunstable and Welwyn Junction Railway it seems,
Would have been a valuable link between East and West Coast mainlines today.

This bloke is completely ace.
Don't expect fast edits and for him to try and sell you some sponsored shite. He just gets it done. Here's two of his railway tunnel vids.
The others are well worth checking too. The Megatron ones are incredible.
I've got plans for taking a bike down in a dingy at some point. -

This reminds me of large sections of the ride back from Saltcoats to Glasgow on the NCN 7

I think the Highgate to Finsbury Park stretch is part of the Capital Ring. That segment itself may have its own name though. Really pretty.

There is the Downs Link that runs from Guildford (North Downs) to the south coast at Shoreham.
Most, if not all of it is on a disused railway line.
I rode half of it a few weeks ago, from Guildford to Christ's Hospital. Truth to say, it was pleasant but a bit dull. I think it needed company.
Closer to home, there is the lovely little run from Highgate to Finsbury Park, whose name currently escapes me.
Great thread by the way.
