Essential winter clothing?

Have some Endura Pro-SL bibs - they're fantastic.

Ive the shiny white empires, a few years old and still pretty perfect condition. I think one winter would change that....

These arrived. About four times what I planned to spend, not sure on sizing so still to decide whether they stay or go.

Like the “shoe plus collar” approach though, and quality seems top notch

My Louis Garneau are the same design and I've loved them over, I think, five Winters now.

A league apart from any kind of overshoe, tinfoil, plastic bag, gaffer tape combo yet conceived.

Even at four times what you planned to spend, I warrant that you'll consider them a bargain after one Winter, never mind the many more that they'll last.

And you'll soon see your money back, in Summer shoes that now last more than a year and shit overshoes that don't last one season.

yeah, hope so. I had the old northwave boots ages ago (Fahrenheit, Celsius - whichever was the 3-bolt version) and they lasted for years and years, and just so much less hassle

Anyone own a Santini jacket? If so what do you have and how is it?

Any suggestions for cheap, decent tights? More for when it's quite cold than mega cold. I've got some Castelli ones that I used to love but have started to find the pad really uncomfortable and chafing after a few hours.

+1 also on @ltc question as well. Have Gore's and they're (to) super-warm, so something in between?

@GoatandTricycle Santini did some custom stuff for us recently and great quality. I have also just bought the Poiggio Dura jacket pretty cheap on probikekit. Couldnt find any reviews on it though.

Saw this, how is it and the fit?

Haven't got it yet but can't go wrong for £46. ll my other santini stuff is large and fits well at 6'2 80kg.

Reccomendations for leg warmers that don't fall down also appreciated!

For 40 quid lusso are a good deal.

My Santini jacket arrived today. I'm really impressed for £48. Fit and cut are great. Not 100% I'll keep it as I have a Rab drillium with stow away hood that is maybe similar enough that I don't need both.

Looks like i've lost one of my Sealskinz Ultragrips. Had them for 5 years so they got a good innings. Replace with the same or should I be looking at something else?

Commuting 35kms a day with some club riding on the weekend temps of 5-10c generally and I run quite hot!

Randomly felt like giving a shout out to Sealskinz. (For commuting, not road.) Use my knee length waterproof socks daily for 3 - 4 months every winter. No leaks or noticeable wear.
Awesome value, seeing as I bought them in 2011 that works out to 0.00001 pence per day or something.

Anybody got any strong opinions on 'winter' softshells? I live somewhere where winter is going to go down to -10/15 so I think they're not going to be tuff enuff
