Mueller investigation has cancelled Paul Manafort's plea deal saying he'd been lying to FBI/DOJ. The sentencing report will be detailing what the lies were.
-
• #7082
Wait, why is he holding the receiver on a speaker call?
Edit: already comprehensively remarked upon on Twitter :-)
-
• #7083
They're not actually on speaker on these calls are they? I thought they recorded the inbound-line and gave the press a tape.

Michael Cohen in court now pleading guilty to lying to Congress about when the negotiations about Trump Tower Moscow stopped.
-
• #7087
Cohen has lied so often about so much his value as a witness is low. There may be something useful in the 70 hours of interview he has had with the prosecutors.
Meanwhile Trump has put out 11 hostile Mueller tweets since Monday morning, expect a few more tomorrow. -

A couple of observations from today.
An awful lot of the Steele dossier is turning out to be accurate.
Even if you dislike his style, Seth Abramson has pretty much been on the money so far also.

Odds on the White House Travel Director being asked to compile a list of countries without extradition treaties with the US?

An awful lot of the Steele dossier is turning out to be accurate.
I hope more than anything in the world that the piss story is true.

Of course it’s true. You mean verifiably true.

The ol' Kid Rock deflection. Bawest trick in the book.

PS Seth Abramson is a left wing ZeroHedge, IMHO. Breathless clickbait which grabs onto your confirmation bias.
Ahem?
-
• #7097
Also, clickbait for what exactly? Follows and his book I suppose, but not for any other ads.
I think he deserves the Pulitzer, to be honest.

I was too quick to dismiss him. But his Homer-length threads expounding on theories which at the time weren’t being backed by reporting made him come across like a crank. I’m still unsure if I think he is inspired or lucky. But, yeah, sure, I shouldn’t have written him off so blithely.
-
• #7099
One of his main points is that his stuff is backed by reporting, but by reporting that is spread far and wide.
Huge amounts of time and research were required to join the dots. Curatorial journalism, he calls it.
In my opinion the long threads, with each post being a complete item, as opposed to just an arbitrary 140 character slice of a single longer piece of prose, is a great use of twitter. It allows each point in your article to be referenced, responsed to and discussed. It is genuinely one of the only ways in which I see twitter used as a journalistic media that is better than other, more traditional forms of online content.

When I stopped reading him he wasn’t linking to things particularly assiduously. If he’s doing that now then that rather changes things - it was the assertions without links that I had an issue with.
This guy. Thankful for himself.
