Just got a Frank green stainless steel cup for my birthday, but I don't get what the filter thing is for, and nowhere on the website even mentions it.
Any ideas?

Fiiter? are you talking about the button mechanism in the lid?
-
• #15407
No it's kind of like a tea leaf strainer, with a little handle to pull it out.

Giddy up coffee is fantastic- for those of us stuck around barts.
Also get to stare at GIANT bicycles which is nice. -
• #15409
yeah my missus, doesn't know what it's for either..
-
• #15410
..maybe it's a tea leaf strainer, with a little handle to pull it out?
-
• #15411
ah yeah
looks like it's used for either straining stuff out when pouring into the cup (brewed in teapot) or keeping stuff from coming out when you drink from it (leaves added to cup).

No offense, but it's not exactly rocket science, is it?
-

Oh by the way I have bought that SIGG bottle I was asking about a while back.
It's awesome.
Do recommend. -

Hey coffee friends. The handle on my grinder comes off really easily... unsure of the best method to secure it. Anyone experienced something similar or able to suggest a fix?

Circlip or chicago screw (also apparently known as a sex bolt) or replace with bolt and nuts.

Looks like something a rocket scientist would own.
-
• #15419
I think the rocket scientist would go for the 1L version with mug -

• #15420
With that one ^, won't any crud on the bottom of the flask (from when it's put down somewhere) end up inside the mug for you to drink?
-
• #15421
Nah, I went for the Frank Green.
-
• #15422
Well I guess you could just wipe the bottom of the flask (there is a large silicone pad there though which is nice per se, but not that great for wiping) - but for most people I think the problem would rather be drinking tea with sugar or cacao or whatnot out of the mug, and then putting it over the flask when done
: /Long story short: get a small (0.3 / 0.5L) one - they do not come with the mug (..but with the tea-strainer-thingy)!

I'll take that as a recommendation. I am in the market for one of these anyway and was looking at the Frank Green, Kleen Canteen, etc. Merry Christmas to me then!

fwiw my sigg hot & cold leaks very easily. i accidentally put my bag in an overhead bin on a train forgetting it was in a side pocket and almost immediately had a hot coffee shower when I sat down.
the sigg keeps drinks piping hot (thermos style) while the frank green is more for carting around a drink you intend to have sooner rather than later but it's much more leak proof.

Sigg bottles can be very picky about how well you do them up. Its so easy to cross thread Sigg bottles, causing it to leak everywhere despite appearing to be sealed properly.
Dammit, too slow, optimistic 2nd dibs
