Grrr update. Fancy deore v brakes do not fit on the 90s canti bosses. The 'shoulder' (i'm calling it the shoulder) ie, the thicker section of the boss that seats into the brake arm is too long. Or in-fact it would seem the Deore arm 'wells' are a-typically shallow. Shitty Clarks efforts fit, parts bin 'promax' ones fit too - until I got over zealous with the spanner-ing and squished one fucker on too tight. I can't expain why i did this. it was late, whiskey had been had. Destroyed brake arm in order to remove. excellent.
