I never understood road pedals on what looks like a daily bike (risers etc). Seems so impractical to me.

Riding fixed without being clipped in just feels so odd now, and this is more of a “not quite Sunday best but I only ride it when I know I can leave it somewhere without locking it up on the street and only when it’s sunny” kinda bike
Agreed, but why not SPD/MTB pedals? At least you can walk around on those shoes, something you'll probably do a lot when it's a town bike.
