  • Has anyone got any pics for awesome frame mount solutions? Want to add peg or pegs/bracket brazeon to a frame I’m having some other work on.

Where are the natty Bespoked type pump ‘porn’?

  • This is a niche, even for you!

Lots of frame building/randonneur Pr0n at the very least.

  • Cheers. I’m looking for pump options as well as peg arrangements.

@Lolo, that is a great spot for a peg, if you want main tubes free for bottles / shouldering your bike. The bike I’m fussing with actually has one there, with a lovely little spur at the other end near the cluster.

Unfortunately it will have to change, as I’m adding disc tab & support to the stays...

  • Doh^ focus fail

  • Saw some good peg / pump arrangements at Bespoked this year, including a porteur rack with a special tube underneath holding a minipump.

  • I see.. Well, how about that:

  • Or could you not have a peg right at the top of the seat stay and have the other brazed to the disc brace tube?

  • Or like this with a smaller pump.

  • What's the reasoning for putting the pump on the seat stays, and not under the top tube? Being able to shoulder your bike?

  • Some good stuff here @Zeeburg and @thebonk, but we need to know the current tuktitude situation.

  • Thanks @Zeeburg @TheBonk for posting the detailed shiznit.

So: my sitch is that the frame I’m have work done (Thorn EXP c.2004, built for derailleur with 725 conical tubes) on has a good, if faintly agricultural arrangement: a thin steel bracket as below with a pip at the back end where it meets the chainstay.

I need to add something that isn’t a pip at the other end, like the Silca frame-fit pump above that TheBonk posted that fits into the back of the schmancy seat-tube light. It will fit between the existing bracket and a strengthening brace Winson Vaz is adding (along with a disc tab and some hose brazeons).

I’m using the Zefal HPX classic which has one end for a peg/pip, one end as in the photo. So I guess I’ll get him to add a sort of toenail-clipping of tubing sticking up angled from the brace to make a seat facing the underside of the seatstay/brace join, for the pump to secure into ...

The other option is to move the braket so it points to the BB (pump end fits fairly well into that cluster although a bit of a fudge), NDS ish to clear a bottom-pull FD- but the band for the FD makes clearances tight and prone to rattlesville.

    What would you do?!

  • @skalliwag The last pic above shows the frame-fit end that needs to be secure on the brace^. Guess one side in the join to the seatstay, the other into a sort of curved added tube section sticking up, like a toenail clipping?

  • Or could you not have a peg right at the top of the seat stay and have the other brazed to the disc brace tube?

Cheers Mark yes exactly what I’m envisaging. It’s just that decent pumps seem to have frame brackety curves but not peg holes both ends.

  • ^The pink Jack Taylor rack one is great.

  • If it were me, I’d get the smaller size HPX pump (360-400mm or 410-450mm) and have your top fixing replaced with a traditional peg and get something fabbed for the disc brake brace.

Yeah it’s ace that. Owner had that added to the rack and colour matched to the original frame enamel of the JT.

  • have your top fixing replaced with a traditional peg and get something fabbed for the disc brake brace.

Yerp, ‘cept I won’t mend the top bit that aint broke.

  • ̷H̷̶̷o̷̶̷w̷̶̷ ̷̶̷a̷̶̷b̷̶̷o̷̶̷u̷̶̷t̷̶̷ ̷̶̷I̷̶̷ ̷̶̷c̷̶̷o̷̶̷m̷̶̷e̷̶̷ ̷̶̷d̷̶̷o̷̶̷w̷̶̷n̷̶̷ ̷̶̷a̷̶̷n̷̶̷d̷̶̷ ̷̶̷b̷̶̷r̷̶̷e̷̶̷a̷̶̷k̷̶̷ ̷̶̷i̷̶̷t̷̶̷?̷̶̷ That's fair enough.

  • Urgh, custom (I'm presuming) frame but with pengy levels of un-tukt-ness (you could carry a flipping track pump in there) and 'that' rear brake cable routing?
