One of my interns has just bought a creality cr10s, he says the resolution is really good for the price, the basic unit is similar price to the prusa

@coldharbour
I've decided to sell my Repetier flashed AIO. You'd need to get a copy of Repetier Server to use it, which is either free or very cheap if I recall correctly.
Its a big lump, weighing more than 20Kg I think. Yours for £200 if you're happy to collect from SE10. Have four or five reels of filament in various states of use that I will throw in.

Looking at getting a shutter button for an Olympus XA camera printed. Is anybody able to do this? I have the file, looked online at prices and it would be more expensive than the cost of the camera! Gracias.

Do you publish your designs anywhere? I'd love to try and print one, if that would be okay by you
-
• #82
Happy to try. Wang the file my way and I'll see what I can do. (Well, it's my son in charge really, as Stonehedge says.)
-

Send it to me i'll sort it if you have the file.

I can send you some CAD if you want to try and print something?
-
• #85
That would be awesome! Have you ever thought about putting them on thingiverse?
-
• #86
I’m not really into thingiverse, use grabcad quite a bit but I don’t ever design anything I can publish really

Who here has a 3D printer?
-
• #89
I've got access to one, but I'm out in Reading

Same, access but am in Manc

It appears that you can get some very cheap ones now, I was wondering if they were total crap?
-
• #92
The cheaper ones I’ve seen are a copy of an older more expensive design. I know a couple of people who have bought them and used them with some success with a bit of fettling.
I personally would spend £6-800 on a Prusa if you wanted something for home - constant firmware development and large community of people using them as well as a choice of machines / specs

I just bought an Anet A6 for work and built it up yesterday. First test print seemed to come out fine.
Have some upgrades to install next and then will let you know how it goes.

I'm no designer or mechanical engineer but have enjoyed iterating on this thermal camera mount I'm working on.

The next version will be the final one, I'm going to add a little groove in the base for a cable tie for a little extra security. I'll print them with PVA support once the design is finalised, getting the support out of the o-ring groove is a pain.
Will be secured to a platform with bolts, screwed into some threaded inserts. If you design in a pilot hole, you can get a threaded insert, pop it on the end of a soldering iron and melt it into place. They hold really well. I'll post pics when I get to that bit.

You might find that you don't need support for the o-ring groove if you print slowly enough with a fan?
-
• #97
Frankly it doesn't need an o-ring groove at all - I thought it was going to be mounted in a box but the requirements changed and I don't need to shield it anymore. But I designed it so I'm sticking with it, ha.
That sounds like a good thing to try, though. I'm printing the whole thing 'on end' but I think you might still be right, it could possibly support itself. I'm going to use the PVA though, cos we have a roll and it's really satisfying to use! -

I think it'll be fine with no support. Give it a go.

Could anyone tell me approx. how much it would cost to get this printed?

Inventors claim this process is actually 3D printing,
rather,
than layers of 2D printing.
Have you got any experience with the creality printer? Seems to get good reviews and is a fair wack cheaper.
