  • My pre cursa...

  • Nice, but touring thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Borghini and Tokyofixed Dart are amongst the best in the genre.
The Cinelli while very nice is in the wrong thread IMO.

  • Mine, used as a road bike for a year and a half, recently sold

  • What component changes would you make to the Cinelli in order for it to qualify? Hoods, hubs...?

  • Hoods.
It's like the recipe for road fixed. A fixed bike with hoods and at least one brake. TT/aero bars setup also fits in.
The cinelli is "just" a nice functional fixed build.

  • Bottle cage too imo. Perhaps not essential to qualify, but if you want to be a contender, can't be missed.

Only a fool rides further than 30 miles with no water bottle.

  • I've done 100 miles with a bottle in a jersey pocket

  • Living in the peak district it's hard to imagine some of these being ridden safely on the roads and hills around here.

The single brake variety mostly seem to be modified track or track inspired bikes which seems to me to be a different thing to a road bike.

Nice as some of them are.

  • No breaks or bottle cages but rad nonetheless

  • Found an older photo in full road setup, even closer tho this thread's subject

  • Oh i know there are other options, but there is a reason every road bike has at least one set of cage mounts.

  • Very.

    @Goyt it's doable, and I wouldn't say it's unsafe. Just a bit painful.

  • With a 15 odd % hill at one end of my road straight into a narrow bridge with oncoming traffic I'd disagree. But would enjoy watching :)

Long Hill etc; fine, but turn right at the top down Goyt's Lane or down Blaze Hill? Hmm. Rather you than me.

Horses for courses, innit? I like two brakes, and any sensible road-fixed has two levers anyway so having the second caliper is a no-brainer on converted road bikes, but one is enough in many locales and track frames need a lot of extra work to have two brakes in an aesthetically satisfactory way.

  • No breaks

Maybe you should take one to have a long hard think about what you've done.

  • I guess this counts, bottles excepted
