  • How hard should it be to press in a headset cup?

I've got a shonky DIY press system which has not let me down till now. It's a threaded bar, two bits of wood, two washers and two nuts. It's done a good few headsets in it's life, but pressing in a new FSA Pig bottom cup has been beyond it. Basically, it's gone in fine and straight, but around 1 mm from being flush, it just won't budge any further.

This is a beefy headset so I'm wondering whether the flange on the headset is longer, and the headtube not reamed deep enough to alow it to slip in far enough to snug up properly.

Is this a thing that could happen? I'm trying to track down some wider metal washers/plates to replace the wood, so that any flex/give from that is removed from the equation, but still a bit baffled that it just refuses to go in that last mm.
