"got any blacker?"
This would've been a youtube link...

Apparently it does have internal di2 routing and it's better than bog standard steel

Look at it as a safety precaution

That worked so well with the hi-viz Tripster...

Too much leccy tape?
-
• #333
Not enough. If I covered all the hi-viz with black tape I'd probably not have been run down.

found bike frame yet?
Have a similar want for it all, Mason Definition2 is winning. Have on the list..
Fairlight Strael v1 or v2.0
Ribble CGR Carbon or AL (this years)
Decathlon RC 520 - full bike
Kinesis RTD -

I like the look of the Mason Resolution but for ~700 less I could just get the 4SD I had before and then I don't need to give a shit about measurements. I also like the neat RTD so that's an option but the fork protectors bother me a bit. Strael 2 is nice but @skinny might think I'm copying him :)
I've not been looking much. I'm not that enthusiastic about anything. I've still got a boner for the 3T Enduro but 1x is dumb and what's the point of an aero frame you cover in bags? Also £4.5k can fuck off.

Also finding it hard to get exited about anything else. I like my 4S but after a bike fit, I've basically been told it's never going to work in any size, need rid.
What's so wrong with selling decent frame sets that have rack/guard mounts, BSA bottom brackets & modest tyre clearance that are not super heavy tourers.
Did a bit more research and found the Boardman ASR & Rose Pro Cross Randonneur which looks good but falls down on BB and is bike only.
New 4S sounds like an easy choice..

4S seems pretty standard dimensions for an 'all day' bike to me. Think it was a little short and high in the front so I went a size up from what I'd normally do, bonus: more bag space and less toe-overlap, but I'm running with aerobars for ultras so everything is a bit of a compromise. What freaky dimensions are you looking for?
The only reason I got the Tripster is because the old 4S Disc had flawed QR dropout design and I didn't want another 4S unless they fixed it. Now it's through axle it'll be fine. But now that I've seen the Resolution I kinda want a black or blue one of those.

I ordered a Resolution in August, with expected delivery in early October. I’m still waiting and Mason’s communication on this leaves a lot to be desired.

It says pre-order for Dec at the moment.
I guess I could contact them to get a more accurate timescale. If I don't hear anything I can dismiss them. I wish someone would tell businesses that communication, even bad news, is better than no news.

Need to dig into the fit report a little more but think I need a short reach for my height. Height corresponds with the 55.5 but stack / reach is closer to the 51. Think Strael might be my best match with the Regular/Tall geo options.

• #341
That's only 10mm reach difference. What stem length was specified?

• #342
This exchange prompted me to email them - frame is out for delivery on Friday.

Blimey, is this thread over a year old now

Glad I could, err, help.
One thing that puzzles me about their frames is the replaceable hanger. Why have they built such a massive one, given that it needs to fail in order to save the frame (my Tarmac one worked and I rode it home last night with a new hanger).

I would commute on that every day. Please Santa, can I haz?

Drivers might even see that one

Still getting to the bottom of this, he wasn't a fan of the 4S 51 either. I think an effective top tube closer to 53cm would be preferable for me. He moved the seat back 2cm and the shifters 3cm closer to the seat, so my hands were shifted back 5cm and down 2cm.
Going to try a stumpy 70mm stem and shorter reach bars to get through Winter and try to find an inspiring frame.

Funny how my all-black TT bike has never been run into but my hi-viz one was.
Too colourful ;)
