I put an inline barrel adjuster just after the cable leaves the extension. It makes changes to the setup much easier.
I assume all TT setups are temporary.
Good suggestion. My primary interest in alternative positions is currently hand height (flat extensions vs praying mantis), keeping the cabling external means I can switch out extensions in a matter if minutes.
