Yeah, I spread it from 120 with no issues so far. A few other people on here have done it too.
There are a couple of issues: the removable mech hanger puts the mech about 4mm further outboard, so it's a stretch to reach the 42t gear on the cassette. And the mech hanger hooks onto the end of the dropout, which reduces the space available for the smallest gear. In this case, it's fine with an 11t. But I think if you did a 9spd rather than 10, there would be a bit more leeway for a less steep range of gears.
After my roadie commuter got stolen I've bodged some gears into a donor Pompino... nice and spinny for Glasgow hills. Just needs guards and a rack now
