I'd prefer fixed but the frame I was kindly gifted is geared so feel half obliged. Not sure my local course would be good fixed too, never seen a fixed rider. Thanks for the rubber band tip!

Why not?

It tends to walk, it's not rigid from the get-go yet it also fails to be elastic, adhesive bleeds out of the edges and makes everything look filthy by trapping dirt, adhesive residue needs tiresome clean-up when you remove the tape. Basically, if you are not bound by regulation to use PVC insulating tape, there is always a better tape for any given job.

I use rubber bands on untaped extensions. I do actually have pre drilled holes for internal routing but I still consider my position to be provisional so external routing makes it easier to adjust.

Rubber bands? How many does it take to cover a side?
I need to tape my bullhorns but don't have any tape. I do have grips but can't be arsed pulling the levers off to install them.

Can confirm this - itβs absolute rubbish. Proper endtape on the other hand is wonderful stuff.

Only 5... I only use it to stop the cables flapping around on the extensions. I use grip tape on the (internally routed) base bars.

I put an inline barrel adjuster just after the cable leaves the extension. It makes changes to the setup much easier.
I assume all TT setups are temporary.
-

Ah, I thought you were using them as an alternative to a grip/bar tape. Mine are taped now.
-

Good suggestion. My primary interest in alternative positions is currently hand height (flat extensions vs praying mantis), keeping the cabling external means I can switch out extensions in a matter if minutes.

Much fun had at castle Combe despite the rain on Sunday, and the savage headwind. So nice to be on smooth traffic free tarmac, even if it involves being soaked to the skin.

I didn't make it round and am now ill, lol. The spray appears to have killed the NotioKonect I had on the bike as well ...

Events for 2019 now up on CTT site

Bad times, what went wrong?

Was feeling a bit under the weather (rarely happens!) and decided to bail at halfway or so. Reckon I'd have been on for 21:45 ish with any luck. Shame really as I fancy doing the whole winter series!

NotioKonect
Are these any good? Have you compared their data with that from an Aeropod or other on-bike units?

Did CTT actually manage to beat @xavierdisley spreadsheet reveal? O M G

Is anyone riding this: https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/17803
-
• #18620
I'll give it a miss, I've heard routes near Penistone are a hard ride
-
• #18621
The CTT have sent me a voucher for a free meal at the awards dinner, because apparently I've won an 'age category award'. Pity I can't go. I wonder what the award is?
-
• #18622
Which races did you place in? Did you ride any Championship events?
-
• #18623
Yep, 12hr Nat Champs. I guess it's either for that or BBAR. Do they have age category awards for the BBAR?
-
• #18624
I can't remember. They definitely have something with age-grouper stuff but I've no idea what it is. They only ever say Junior, Open and Vet on the forms.
Ah, Lynne has won a '12hr age group champion' award so it's likely that:
https://borntobike.co.uk/meet-the-riders/lynney-biddulph/Are you a Vet?
-
• #18625
Are you a Vet?
Sure am. Getting vettier every year...
The thing you're doing wrong is having gear cables at all π
If you want to hold them to the extensions, and given that you're a noob and will therefore probably be dicking about with your set up quite a bit, just get a bunch of post office rubber bands to keep the cable from flapping about.
