The one I could have possibly warrantied was a Deore. These SLX I bought off retrobike.
I fully intended to try and warranty the Deore but then it slipped my mind for a little while and by the time I remembered about it it was waay out of warranty so I just punted it on eBay (with full disclosure).
But that episode just goes to prove that even buying new doesn’t make you immune to the curse of the leaky caliper.
Will I never fucking learn?
Those SLX brakes I bought for my Hummus have a leaky caliper up front.
Thankfully I still had the BB7s hanging around all setup so slapped the front one back on and salvaged the day's riding.
Question is, do I
If I decide to buy a caliper, the new stuff is all banjo fittings on the nicer levels, Deore looks to be the 'straight in' type fitting, reckon the threads will still be the same and I can just unscrewthe hose from the slx caliper and whack it in a Deore (possibly needing a new olive etc of course)?
