  • Hahaha.

I love his Brompton. I love lairy stupid bikes. But doing this to that would cost too much.

What are the widest bars these will fit and still fold?

    I really want this.

  • The simpsons stickers tho, and the Brompton saddle.... Y @amey Y?!

That seat post is pretty lairy.

The mid rise are 600mm and hit the floor on fold, I guess keeping it flat probably about 660?

  • Ace. Will experiment. Got some stuff in the shed.

  • Ti parts 610mm clear fine, I think 650mm is the limit!

Would recommend a brake lever upgrade, the aluminium ones turn soft brakes into sharp ones!

I have some responsibility to play for Amey’s build, I provided the frame and stem, he was unaware of the stem colour completely 😂

If you need anything, ask, I have an endless collection of spares...

  • Excellent. I will be in touch!

  • Great minds think alike, that seatpost is on my list of things to upgrade next year once Blackfoot jnr is in nursery.
Sjs had a sale on of ti workshop bits, got very excited for a bit thinking it was in there. Then sad when I realised I’d have to pony up the full amount for it..

  • Abromeynation

    ftfy

  • The jtek one is slightly more, but you get rid of the pentaclip so you save more weight!

  • I like your style.

  • We’ve had this conversation before, jtek is nice but pentaclip gives me a bit of adjustment as I’m on the edge of extended seatpost and telescopic.
    Also I want rainbow titanium.
Also why has no one made a titanium pentaclip?

  • exceptional black with tan. Well done.

  • Other than ignoring Ameys advice on WhatsApp

But he's your brother from another mother?

  • At £1000 this would be a quick sell tbh ... dodgy!

  • Must be a scam. No one is that stupid.

  • Definitely suspect, but the ad is well-written and grammatically correct. Scammers usually can’t string a sentence together. Odd.

  • Another bonus of jtek or rockBros is the end is not curved so youre not forced to follow the official minimum insertion rule which I thought only became a problem if you were attempting to insert and use the post above the line of the top tube. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Maybe I should ask if he takes western union...

  • The jtek has a flared end, no crap. The minimum insertation is pretty important when your seatpost is 520mm at shortest, wouldn’t want to go at a lesser insertion.

  • How will this not get completely scratched to fuck in about 5 minutes of use?

My ti seatpost has plenty of wear marks, I can't see a rainbow anodised seatpost becoming anything more than a mess of patchy colours in a month or two.

  • It shouldn’t scratch at all, if the nylon sleeve in the seat tube is in good shape. Grit and shit gets onto the post and tends to get drawn into the sleeve in normal use, which is why it’s important to keep the post clean and the clamp tension at the correct setting.

To be honest the best seat post is the stock Brompton chromed one. I had plans to tart mine up, until I realised that it’s a practical bike and it’s just better off as standard. Unless you throw shitloads of cash at it you’re just shaving a few grams off here and there.

Having said that, if I sold one of my Moto Guzzis I would buy a ti main frame, fork and rear triangle and really go for it. There’s a place in the US that makes a full carbon steerer, only £1700...

  • What’s the current going second hand rate for an original titanium rear triangle?
Don’t want to pay over the odds for one.

  • I'm not sure. But I'm struggling to think why someone might have an original Ti triangle to sell, other than if they've upgraded to a Kinteics (or similar) one.
As Venn diagrams go, I think that'd be a very small sector.

  • 350 is a good price, less than £300 it’s probably a J&L POS.

  • Buy a superlight second hand, strip it for the Ti fork / triangle, pay for the bike, buy steel fork / triangle..

  • I don’t know why either, but they are out there. And I’m hoping to get one..
