Building a play ground swing.

Posted on
  • I have decided to build a swing for my kids to take advantage of an large area of pathway to our back yard.
My idea is scaffold pole cemented into the ground in the normal triangle shape.
Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

  • My Dad built a treehouse with zip wire a few years back. I was surprised by the amount of professional-level kit that you can buy. Somewhere like this will sell you swing seats and corner brackets for the A-frames, which might remove a lot of guesswork from the process. I grew up messing around on an adventure playground made from scaffolding poles, but if I were to build one now, I'd use this type of thing.

  • i looked at making something from scratch but in the end went for a swing set from the ebay shop of niclimbingframes.com was a decent price and saved a load of hassle. Rather then sink the posts in the ground i fixed the legs to some ground anchors that i sunk in concrete

  • Just came across this thread.

Have you looked for ex-council / second-hand stuff on ebay?

For eg I know someone who got a £35k ex-Burger King 2 story adventure pod for ~£500.
