Ten days to keep this deal alive for. How long do we reckon it'll survive?
-
• #14653
Yes. I think that's about right.
-
• #14654
Plenty of UK CCTV to record the fallout ;)
-
• #14655
In the future we'll all be Brexit Secretary for 15 minutes.

Anyone got a decent total summary of what the actual deal is. Classic Brexit coverage where by there is lots of coverage of the politics and huge debate over the ramification and comings and going, but has anyone anywhere got a 1 pager on what the deal actually is?
I thought I'd lined up @boristrump to provide the lfgss summary, but no sign yet. 500 odd pages is a lot of reading for Wednesday night though, I'll admit.

What??? I've only just got over my stint in Sugababes ffs...
-
• #14658
It’s a play to be the next Tory leader, surely?
-
• #14659
I'm not sure any of them want that. It's more of a poison chalice now than when May took over.
But if you mean that all those reasons qualify him for the job, then yes.

• #14660
We've been talking about Raab's resignation at work today and so far every single person who has discussed it (including me) has mixed him up with somebody else, that's how much of an impression he's made during his tenure

barely conceivable as a stalking horse. And don't call me Shirley.
So, the 48 letters go to the 1922 committee - the leadership contest is announced. Raab won't feature at all, I don't think. He'll go back to being a keen-as-mustard nobody.

Esther McVey now.

• #14663
Shit TV presenter, worse politician. Sadly, this probably prolongs her political career.

A mug for left handed people?
Are you insinuating that left handedness runs in my family!!? Why don't you try saying that to my mug you tea towel. -

Good riddance!

Suella Braverman (no me neither)

So, the 48 letters go to the 1922 committee
On news night last night they were suggesting that they have the 48 letters but the chair of the committee has to talk to each MP first to confirm that they are happy for their letter to be 'triggered'

Suella Braverman (no me neither)
My local MP, the most hateful type of Tory, penny mordaunt can't be fair off now

Ok that is 2 gone.
Bring it on...Shailesh Vara, the Minister of State at the Northern Ireland Office, has resigned over the draft Brexit deal.
Number 3. I have no idea who this is and I live in NI!

Was I hallucinating or did May just say "or we can choose no Brexit at all"?
Surely that is a new thing to hear her say as an option?
-
• #14673
May says the choice is clear.
We can choose to leave with no deal, or have no Brexit at all ....
-
• #14674
Graun live feed confirms you were not hallucinating, but she followed it up with "... or we can choose my deal"
-
• #14675
This has appeared a few times over the last couple of days. I think it's meant as a threat to not accepting the deal rather than a sensible option!
I doubt he had much influence other than being a placeholder in that office after Davis proved a total dud. I suppose it was probably a mistake to set up DExEU separately from the FCO and Cabinet Office.
