I hate myself for not calling out a "work colleague" for his racism after referring to Chinese people as "chinks" three times in a conversation.

Was this very recent? If you like him at all I think there's still a window to go back to him and say 'by the way that was unacceptable, if I hear that again from you I will take action'. If you just generally think he's a prick grass him up to HR and don't feel bad about it.
