  • I was suprised too but as you say, there's not much I can do. I will use sram CX1 brifters. But just in case I want to be able to put DT shifters.

  • I've read your hilarious thread and watched the awesome video #discbrakesaredead #buildingbikearoundbrakes
What sense are you talking about ? ;)

Rockers are a good alternative though. I like how they look.

  • I say that but my next bike is going to have sliding dropouts LOL

(because it comes like that OTP)

  • Ha What is it that you're willing to contradict yourself ?

  • Jacek said:

I'm thinking about oversized Zona tube set with DT 35 or 38mm
diameter. to use in build, what do you think?

Well, I don't know... It sounds good to me 35mm is not too big. What do you think ?

I'll also ask for internal dynamo wiring for front and rear light.

  • Not as big as it sounds. I went for 38mm to fit with a 44mm HT, I imagine 35 would look fine with a 1 1/8th HT:

  • See if you can get the mudguard mounts on the moving part of the dropouts. So you don't need to adjust mudguard stays when you adjust the dropouts.

  • I think it would deform the mudguards. As there are two fixed attachment points. On stays bridges.
Edit: So I'd still have to adjust the mudguards stays.

  • Great thread, love the inspiration sources too.

  • I'm about to make the deposit.
    Here's the final characteristics.
    -Fillet brazed Zona tubing
    -35mm diameter DT
    -disc tabs
    -rack and mudguards eyelets
    -No more wishbone.
-sliding dropouts (I did ask about the Paragon rockers. But won't be available on time)
-1 1/8 straight steerer double plated crown (see Paris Brest on Ceeway) forks with mudguards and rack mounts, mid-forks mounts
-integrated dynamo wiring( DT and fork) and rear brake cables
    -down tube shift bosses
    -chain hook on seatstays
-bottle cage mounts, standards + under DT

    Have I forgotten anything?
    Any last recommendation?

  • Now I have to decide/design the paintjob.

    And also
    Black or silver finishing kit?

    Groupset will be SRAM CX1
    Will go hydro.
    Black Cambium C15
Purple Hope hubs, black spokes and rims. I now realise I should have gone for centrelock. For the shimano RT99 Freeza rotors everyone's talking about.
Think I'll have another pair laced with centrelock and SON hub.
    Also SON or Supernova headlight?

I have about 11 weeks to decide.

  • I'm back!
And the Orlowski is pretty much done.
I received the frameset by the end of July last year and built it up right away.
This is how it looked in August 2017
I was still waiting for my Gunsha ( same as Juintech) hydro/mecha brakeset
so I put the BB7 from the Pomp meanwhile.

    Now

Pictures from a 100km ride in the Belgian countryside this summer

    Bike check on Pedalroom

    Future upgrades
Still needs mudflaps (I've already put the scobleflap)
    I'm seriously considering another saddle
A rando rack with a rando bag
    and a tad shorter stem

  • Bim bam boum !
    It's awesome ! :)
Go for an SMP saddle !

  • Merci!

Go for an SMP saddle !

    Yes thinking about it
    I'll give it a try

  • As I mentioned on Pedalroom, such a fantastic looking bike!

  • I'm honoured to be complimented twice. Thanks again!

  • Awesome bike and cool pictures. I also enjoy the 'this fallen tree is blocking my path!' shots. :D

  • lovely.

  • Thanks!
Now try to imagine me and my loaded bike struggling to go through and over it. Very memorable moment of this ride. :)

    @gillies
    Ta!

  • 6 months later.
I changed the chainring, the seatpost, the stem (temporary, looking for a silver spacer stack integrated tig welded one) the front rack-lowrider, and home made flaps.
Mudguards stays have been trimmed since the last pics.

  • DIY Mudflaps.

  • Outstanding

  • Agreed, didn't think this could get better :)

  • Is that a Zoom seatpost? If not what is it, and where can I get one?
