Never heard of Compass honestly. Are they exceptionally good?
-
• #5930
Hence them setting such a high RRP I would reckon, then they can protect (their own) margin even with the inevitable discounting

For instagram yes.

They're really quite simple, thin thread on a high TPI casing.
An awful lot more technology in a Conti.

True. Nothing as tempting as 30% discount š

They aren't proper gumwalls, just shit imitations.

What is these days? Veloflex? Maybe Specialized.

Challenge āopen tubularsā?

I'm currently running 700x38mm Gravel King SKs on my Croix de Fer for CX-y non-race adventure-y loops, which are getting increasingly muddy getting towards winter. I've got two sets of wheels so am thinking something more tread-y for the other set. Maybe even tubeless. Is there a forum-favourite for this sort of tyres?

Drop the tyres pressure as winter approach.

Gravel king mud?

I'm running 35mm Gravel King Mud after running 38mm Gravel King SK last year. The SK just clog and slip, hence my change - I've found the mud a better all-round tyre in the damp/leafy autumn. It has a looser tread and sheds mud far far better.
But, it's not a deep tread and has nothing really at the edges to aid cornering. I found them a little slippy for me this weekend (been raining all week) and I'm gonna check out some Baby Limus tyres I have sat in the garage for next weekend - they have more going on at the sides so will hopefully be an improvement when it's properly muddy.

Actually I was gonna ask a similar question seeing as I have bags of clearance: mud specific wider tyres, e.g. 700x40, anything good?

Looks like Ā£51.99 seems to be the starting point https://www.vanillabikes.com/products/continental-gp5000-folding-tyre

Carl runs those & hasn't been super impressed IIRC. He doesn't fall over as much as me, but I mainly put that down to his radness abilities being much superior to mine. I'll have a look anyway.

I'm already running at ~25PSI!

Continental Grand Prix Classic? Any good?

Best 700x x 32 for on road cycling? I basically want a wider Vittoria Pave, if possible, a year round fast tyre that is decent for longevity and punctures.

28c gp4000sii, they're huge. And great.

WTB Nano, good price, good all rounder.
Haven't tried, but Soma Cazadero could be another contender. -

Or 32c GP4seasons.

Those Contis are both quite thin so they're fast but depending on what your yearly mileage is you could be going through a few.
Solid tyres for solid folk. None of this flimsy, supple European nonsense.
Proper, British and solid.
