  • Your scepticism is well founded. I’ve list count of number of product launches i’ve seen where the salesmen/reps have been told there will be no discounting and to protect margin at all costs. Right up until, either, sales aren’t great or they are up against a competitor for a big (or sometimes small) contract/order.
    Then it’s a swift race to the bottom as turnover rather than margin becomes the kpi.

  • Hence them setting such a high RRP I would reckon, then they can protect (their own) margin even with the inevitable discounting
