If you're wanting a modern chainguard, I used an SKS Chainboard for a few years, very solid. Might have one to sell on if you don't mind some scratches.

The Platinum is a good card to be fair, if you fly and travel a bit and can make use of the bundled insurance it pays for itself quickly.
I debated getting this, but the main benefits seem to be lounge access and insurance - neither of which I (think!) I need as I have lounge access from BA and work provides travel insurance.
What would be handy would be fast-track for non-BA airlines on economy tickets, but I suspect that's out of reach!

What’s the carbon footprint of this page?

If that's the £450 platinum you have to really take advantage of it to make it worth it. Biggest advantage is the travel insurance which can be passed on to a number of additional card holders.
The hotel perks have to be considered against the fact that you'll rack up free nights and save more going the hotels.com and Quidco route.
My conclusion when looking at it was that if you travel enough to make it worth your while you probably already have a lot of the benefits.

Truly epic on a Biblically Bigfoot size 48 scale. I'll be taking my 33rd flight of the year tomorrow. 34th on Monday.
BA Bizniz lounge beckons. Even though I'm not doing bizniz.

I'm now basking in the realisation that I'm no where near as bad as Danstuff.

Ah fuck, I just counted ~40 or so flights so far this year, will probably finish on just under 50 for the year. Didn't think it was so many. I'll plant a tree tomorrow.

Might not be such a difference in mileage though. All of mine have been short haul, with the debatable exception of Tenerife in the Spring. Other than that, they've all been European flights.
Non-ninja edit: Ha!

Make sure you drive there in the AMG when you go to plant that tree...

Thanks for the tip. I'm in the Netherlands, so shipping might be more than the price in the shop. I'll try that one.

Anyone knows what is the chainline of 6 bolt mounted cog on a disc hub?
-
• #94463
Mine is the poverty spec platinum, which iirc is £25 and has travel health cover, and maybe travel insurance... which I also get through my bank.
My logic was:
- flight = £1k or 60k Avios
- we rack up 30k Avios to meet the £10k p/a for the 2-4-1
- card = £180
- 1st flight = ~£500 + 30k Avios
- 2nd flight = £0
Total = ~£700 for 2 flights saving ~£1,300
- flight = £1k or 60k Avios

what is the chainline of 6 bolt mounted cog on a disc hub?
For unmodified front hubs, the mounting face is 40mm for normal hubs (100×9/12/15 and 110×20) and 45mm for Boost (110×15). Assuming 3mm thick sprockets that gives a chainline of 41.5mm or 46.5mm
IIRC, the mounting face on 135mm rear hubs is 50mm, so that would give a 51.5mm chainline

Your 2nd flight will still be £500, you're still paying taxes with the companion voucher.
You also need 60k avios (30k each way) which is going on £25k of spend (inc the 25k bonus).

BLB do a range of shiny alu fenders in different finishes and styles. Dunno about a chain guard tho

Thank you very much!

IIRC, the mounting face on 135mm rear hubs is 50mm, so that would give a 51.5mm chainline
it varies a bit from brand to brand but most are ~15mm in from the chainstay: so ~52.5mm mounting face and 54mm chainline

Upright bagless vacuum stick thing for cleaning up after my kids trash the kitchen.
What's best? -

54mm chainline
Yeah, 50% maths fail by me and 50% not remembering what the offset from the dropout was. I think you're right

What’s the best value smart trainer? Preferably attaches direct (no wheel) with power meter etc etc etc.
For dad’s 60th.
He wants simple, power meter, zero stress setup, likely used with (open source and a bit of) zwift but minimal tech frustrations.
He wants to attach it to the ipad to avoid hauling a laptop and cables and table down to his shed.
Best value, preferably not over £500 but if it’s dealbreak then it’ll be worth it.

Finally remembered. Here's an example for flights from London to Paris (return) for random dates in June (flying on Sundays):-
And an example for booking car hire - 7 days car hire during Feb half term:-

Tacx Neo. You won't get one new for 500 smackers, but I got I one nearly new for not much more second hand.
