  • If that's the £450 platinum you have to really take advantage of it to make it worth it. Biggest advantage is the travel insurance which can be passed on to a number of additional card holders.

    The hotel perks have to be considered against the fact that you'll rack up free nights and save more going the hotels.com and Quidco route.

    My conclusion when looking at it was that if you travel enough to make it worth your while you probably already have a lot of the benefits.

  • Mine is the poverty spec platinum, which iirc is £25 and has travel health cover, and maybe travel insurance... which I also get through my bank.

    My logic was:

    • flight = £1k or 60k Avios
    • we rack up 30k Avios to meet the £10k p/a for the 2-4-1
    • card = £180
    • 1st flight = ~£500 + 30k Avios
    • 2nd flight = £0
      Total = ~£700 for 2 flights saving ~£1,300
  • Your 2nd flight will still be £500, you're still paying taxes with the companion voucher.

    You also need 60k avios (30k each way) which is going on £25k of spend (inc the 25k bonus).
