Have you considered a ramp test?

Make sure you don't
move about on the saddle finish with a sprint quit before you have to
-
• #2054
- start with a sprint
- quit
- throw trainer in the bin
- start with a sprint

- put bike in turbo

If you don't stay seated... or if you sprint... or if you quit too soon...

Seems dangerous, maybe he should just do a 20 minute test instead...

I do a Ramp Test then 8min then 20min test then ride to John O'Groats where I do a gym session, drink a bottle of whisky and then ride home. It's most refreshing.

I ended up doing a 20 minute test today

I haven't done any riding in months, but all this talk is making me think, that maybe it's because I need to do a ramp test?

The first rule of Ramp Test club is
- Do talk about Ramp Test
- Do talk about Ramp Test

Had the motivation to do a workout tonight and faffed around not being able to get TR to work ...
I've chucked my winter bike on the training which has this sensor: http://www.wiggle.com/wahoo-rpm-speed-cadence-with-bluetooth-40-and-ant/?sku=5360756609
How am I meant to transfer speed to TR with this setup considering the speed sensor is on the front wheel? Does that just not work?
I have another Wahoo Blue sensor on the other bike I could transfer over if needed

I’m a total noob but I don’t think that will work the front wheel isn’t going to be moving...?
-
• #2067
Yep that's what I'm thinking too ... I guess I'll have to swap them then :(
-
• #2068
What I don’t get is how the speed will be accurate on the rear wheel...

I don’t know why, but thought it might be a good day to do a ramp test.
2% increase despite not cycling much for last 4 weeks, and also wimping out a few seconds early, great success! -

I have found a training plan I’d like to follow. However it’s not digitised.
I see that I can create workouts in Trainer Road but can’t see how I can import them in to Wahoo as it appears you can only import from Training Peaks or Today’s Plan.
Can someone point me in the best direction here? -

You can’t load TR workouts on a Wahoo. Why not just use the TR app?
-
• #2072
Because you have to subscribe...
TR seems good but it looks like the Wahoo app can do the same if I can create the workouts. I could then get a different app for some virtual ride stuff was my thinking... -

I tried to get my pre-race warmup onto my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt but came to the conclusion that I'd need a Training Peaks or Today's Plan account to do so. I couldn't find any evidence of a Wahoo workout builder - there was a blog post or something about it but I couldn't find the actual app.

I’m wondering if I can do TR to one of those then import akin to a route.
Could be possible to do that on a trial basis maybe?
Essential a workout version of ride with GPSSide note; It’s weird the Wahoo app has so few routines...

Importing power data form a ride you've done already would work I guess, but you wouldn't get the visual feedback of progress and what's coming up next etc. Seems like a bit of a shonky work-around.
If you want to do virtual ride stuff, doesn't Zwift have a workout builder you could make your plan in? That way you're not paying for a plan you don't use (TR), you get your virtual ride thing and you can make your own structured workout based on the analogue plan you've found.
