  • Be careful swinging around the word 'perfect'. Alerts all the haters normally hiding in the pr0n thread, waiting for their prey. ;)

It's certainly a very nice bicycle!

  • I quite like having a semi-compact geometry, plus imaging the framebag clearance!

  • I just realised the bike actually is a M.A.P, I thought they only did proper retrogrouch bikes and this one was a Meerglas for some reason...

Ed this is not a semi compact geometry. Not even remotely. I'm sure it's great for frame bag clearance, but let's face it this bike is only going to get a GB rando bag.

  • If the top tube was much lower you wouldn't be able to perfectly position that style of rear light I'd imagine. Anyway, classic geo is appealing.

  • ^Those lights are so funny, why limit yourself to only front luggage + a saddle bag? I thought these bikes were supposed to be versatile ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
The rando aesthetic is making me want to re-imagine my Hetchins though...

  • Fat 650b Vagabond is on!

  • Good point regarding the light, although it's hardly a justification. This bike doesn't have a horizontal top-tube, so cannot go pretend to be classic geo.

@themidge it's a rando bike, not a tourer. Do keep up.

You don't need a lots, it's nice having a bike that feel fast and quick to ride yet be able to take a decent amount of weight on the front rack.

  • I think I need bridge mount and a large spacer in at the bb to get this looking right......

  • I agree on both counts; make it solid!

  • Tyres look glorious

  • The solution is obviously a bigger wheel size.

  • I used a stack of valve nuts to space out the BB mounting on my big GB guards.
Also, you may find you need a second stay on the rear. I found my 60mm guards flapped around a little over bumps on my RoadRat which has a similar compact geometry to you Vagabond, it's a long way to the next support!

  • It's not the size that matters, it's what you do with it.. I hope..

  • For spacers I find that leftovers from gale-forced tent poles are ace.
They're light & strong, and you can cut them to whatever length is required.

  • Front brake recessed nut or cork. Everything else >>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • tent pole is lighter than recessed nut
tent pole is more durable than cork

    I win again

  • I was going to 3d print something with the curve of the bb and the mudguards.....

  • well, sure

  • That is a great bodge idea. I have a need for something similar - will go hit some outdoor shops this week.

  • Anyone tried these TRP RD-HY brakes? Would they work with MTB levers?

  • Another good spacer bodge is leftover plastic gubbins from the bag of bits you get when you buy a wall mount for a telly.....they have four different lots usually, and you only ever use one lot of em.

  • Any reason to not just buy a full hyd mtb brake like deore or something?

  • Hmmmm, no not really, just that I already have these levers. The Sunk Cost Falicicy!
