As little time as you want if it's DIYxGPS (I don't do the other one so I don't know about specifying checkpoints, etc).
You normally specify a start time, but then just email the organiser when you actually start if it changes, ie. you couldn't do it Sat so you decide to do it Sunday or next week or whatever.

Having a look at all the DIY info on the audax website but cant seem to figure this out. How much time do you have to leave between completing the entry form and starting your ride?
Can I enter on Friday and ride the morning after on Saturday?
What if I wake up early and fancy grabbing points, could I ride on the same day?
