Looks good!
I saw this video a while back. It's impressive what you can manage with "just" a router: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG9IAndPcrw

I fucked up by letting the flat spot of the router guard go up against the edge of the fence/guide so the bit got closer to it than I wanted, which made the inside corners wonky. That and the 1/4" domed bit is not good for large areas of even stock removal.

Looks good! I'd be happy

round up of a few more bits, a set of coat hooks, a railway sign for a play, a hollow, stepped sphere (fyi @coventry_eagle and @SwissChap who guided me on the measurements) and some more wine glass holders for a customer. I say customer, more of a friend really. But they are available to buy.

Great use of tooth picks!
You selling the Pentominoes (didn't know they were called that till you posted...)?
-
• #637
I could make you a set for sure, not sure if I have any good wood in stock right now but can check. Was planning to paint them but haven't got round to it yet.

That's very generous of you.
My plan is to get a high res print, stick it on and then make a jigsaw of it! Think it could work? :D
-
• #639
Definitely would work. They fit together to make a rectangle of 10x6, 12x5 or 20x3. You'd get a neater result by sticking the image onto the wood before laser cutting.

A few woodwork items I've completed over the last year.
Dice game box
Chopping board and tealight holder
Plant pot stand
Couple of chopping boards

I've been reviving some of my crafty/'makery' inclinations of late after having fallen down the YouTube woodworking rabbit hole.
Matthias Wandel, Pask Makes, Rag 'n' Bone Brown, AvE are some of my top guys.
I also went to my grandparents old house (where my sister now lives) and rescued all my grandfather's old tools. Some cool stuff in there, but I need to sort through and de-rust most of it.
But to start with, I've also dug out the linocut kit to make a card for my son's 2nd birthday and then I'll be making him a simple step stool for Xmas.
Q: Where do you guys get decent finished wood from?

@russ - nice stuff there, particularly like the chopping boards
@fizzy.bleach - sounds good - pics of the tools please! -

more making today: some boxes, a picture frame (needs finishing) and a rather geeky Railway/Tolkien crossover. I want a whole set of these :)

Ah shame! I've literally been sorting through this afternoon but I'm losing the light now. Will try tomorrow. I've been meaning to do a kind of "workshop tour" video anyway. Of my shitheap garage with no electric.

You could make a great large-scale version of Patchwork with those pentominoes
-
• #646
If you made those in greater numbers (and obviously different places), you'd find a lot of interest from Tolkien fans.

I'd like a Moria one. Helms Deep too. Oh and Minas Tirith of course.
-

What are the dimensions of this?
Possibly could use one!
-
• #649
It's 10cm x 140cm, but it's laser cut so can be easily resized.

And so it begins ...
*watches moocher drowning in orders*
Played with the router and made a salt/pepper grinder tray thing to match the chopping board. Just trying some techniques out. Lots to learn.
