10 wet, cold, windy, and at the end, dark, miles over Pendle today. My legs hurt and I’m supposed to be going out clubbing. Are you allowed chairs on dance floors?

• #19403
Consider it extra training

Gonna log it on strava for sure.
Although maybe don’t want to look at the hr data for my own sanity. -

Only if you've got a long run scheduled early doors tomorrow.

Ah man, would snap up the place if I had thought at all about a route other than having this race on the list, and possibly the main reason: baby due on Thursday meaning any sort of time away from home over the news few weeks is a definite "no".
Hope the knee heals up soon!

I know that it's all about the running, but sometimes it's about the gear too ...
For fans of Hokas there is a limited edition re-release of the original, and some have said best, maximalist shoe the Hoka Clifton 1. See https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a23900999/hoka-one-one-clifton-1-reissue/

It's all about the gear! Has anyone tried the new Adidas Solar Glide Boost? As far as I can tell (and what the chap in Runners Need suggested) it looks like they've already replaced the Supernova Glide which was supposed to replace the Glide Boost, but to my mind had way too much Boost going on in the heel, and made it feel more like UltraBoost. To be fair, I've switched to Brooks Ghost and getting on fine with them, but if I know Adidas have started making a shoe I'd like again, that would be good to know.
11.5 miles with hilly off-road this morning. That might be the furthest I've run 7 days after a marathon and everything felt pretty good. Just a shame I'm going on holiday in a few days and will likely lose fitness before I gain it again! :-)

So I bought and really get on with Adidas supernova sequence boost 9. I couldn't work out what they had replaced them with and ended up buying some solarboost? But they rubbed really badly on the top of my foot and really weren't the same type of shoe.
Not sure my point apart from the fact it's really annoying when they change shoes or discontinue them

Hope arrival of baby goes well, there'll likely be a more convenient time to escape Meriden for you in future!

This. My v5 gt2000's are now v6. Only bonus is they have new colourway to match my club vest.

On that subject would anyone be interested in a pair of these? https://m.adidas.co.uk/solar-boost-shoes/CQ3168.html
UK 11
As said I didnt get on with them, only been used for two runs. Not sure what to say in terms of price but going cheap

If they'd been 11.5 I'd have bitten your hand off, I'm really enjoying running in mine.

havent tried them - i'm planning on trying the ghost, solar glide, solar boost, pegasus and 880 back to back some time next week, to finally get hold of a well cushioned slow/ recovery run shoe
SR has a review though, if you havent seen it already - https://www.solereview.com/adidas-solar-glide-review/

Ah, my favourite shoe review site. Yeah cheers, just read this after posting. All very confusing, apparently I should now be looking at Solar Drive!

Finally went for a half way decent length run over the weekend.
I find that running in the city significantly affects my desire to run again.
15km, Devon hills and some xc fun. 4’20 pace.
Pissing rain.
Perfect. Have missed that feeling where you’re halfway home but you turn back round just to add in a favourite bit (in this case a slippery hill).Merrell trail gloves are very waterproof and quite comfy.

I'm really happy to have a GPS watch now (Amazfit Stratos, though the music function is crap), meaning I can ditch the annoying phone belt, which always came out of place. Similarly, I'm happy to have switched to tight merino base layer tops (thanks for recommendations on here), which have solved the problems with my nipples, no tape required.
I'm about to try intervals for the first time, and possibly try to figure out my max heart rate. The watch currently thinks I'm running an entire 10k in the anaerobic zone (173 average), I think because the real max value hasn't been automatically dialed in yet, or else it's just a very inaccurate meter, and my heart rate is actually much lower.

Any recommendations for a reliable GPS watch that’s not too pricey, but that accurately shows pace and records my runs? Or even better, does anyone have one they’re looking to sell?
Garmin 735xt was recommended by a friend, but they cost a lot more than I’m looking to spend. 🙏

I find my old 910xt a lot more accurate than my new(ish) Fenix 3. The 910 unit can be had very cheap and are really versatile.

Anxious about my 2mi jog home from work...Really hope the ankle is getting better.

Are Salomon running shoes (not trail) any good? Any model in particular that would be good for flat/wider feet, 80kg and long distance training and runs, with a nice support and stability?
I have a Salomon voucher and I am trying to use it, otherwise I will see if I can exchange it for cash and go for better road running shoes brands.

I’ve a suunto ambit 3 which I’m very happy with. Nothing clever but just good consistent pace/ time etc. It stores satellite info for quick position acquisition which some of the older gps watches are missing, so it’ll be ready to go in a few seconds rather than waiting minutes for it to find itself.
