There's not much you can do with 23mm, if you drop too much pressure you'll get snake bites. I just spin in the saddle if I know the wheel is going to skid.
That said I like schwalbe one/ pro one but even with cx tires I've lost traction doing sloppy sprints uphill
Michelin Endurance have served me well, they do get cut up but have no issues with grip and roll nicely. Rubio Pro G+ are my go to for everything these days, I commute on them, Sunday ride on them, everything. They've never slipped from under me, feel really quick rolling and last for ages.

What's the current best choice for a wet-weather clincher in 700 x 23mm?
Has to be 23mm to fit under my mudguards.
My Rubino Pros have awful grip when I'm out of the saddle on steep / wettish hills.
