Lockdown? You mean the ETA thing? How do I test it - like, what's it supposed to do? Give more travel or less or something.
It was designed to lower the front of the bike, to make steep climbs a bit more comfortable. I used to use it quite often, and missed the feature on later forks.

Don't like anything to do with rubber seals or lots of liquids. Fiddly, messy, carpet staining bastard work.
There's a LOT of oil in there, compared to modern, cartridge based dampers in forks. It's messy, but it also means your fork has probably survived all sorts of neglect :-)

I'm pretty sure this thing has more travel than any of my bikes anyway. What's the trend now for XC bikes? No one does 80mm any more do they?

What's the point of a 35mm dropper post? This off-road stuff is weird.

What's the trend now for XC bikes?
Lightweight. Always lightweight!
What's the point of a 35mm dropper post?
Lightweight

Lighter would be to not have a dropper post, especially one that only moves 35mm.
I've never used a dropper so he obviously feels that's enough droppage.

Modern XCO courses are pretty technical, so they gamble whether that dropper will save more seconds on the downhill than any weight saving saved on the uphill.
They have to make the same decision between using a hardtail or full suss for a particular course too.

Then again, if they're able to go too fast downhill, then they could damage the lightweight XC tyres they're using, so it's all a careful balance :-)

Where shifting that saddle a little could be really useful.

She cleared it. No dropper required. :)
My beer gut would get in the way. Actually no it wouldn't, I'd have already crashed 28 times and be walking down by that point.

Still don’t get where the saddle should be. Last week or so I’ve had the saddle high enough to stay seated throughout a ride, but as I understand it, that is the reason why I am failing to get to grips with actual skills like to manual. Halp...

actual skills
Time for me to leave again....

So far I can bunny hop like 2 inches off the ground.

I can teach you how to do that one.

Right, can we all just stop talking about bikes? It's been about 7 weeks since I fucking stuffed it in to the oak post, and I haven't been on the bike since.....I just went into my garage, for a look and stuff, and I swear my bikes turned their fucking backs on me........

Talk to the fucking hand. I sent a wheel off to be fixed - bike down, was hit by a car - another bike down and then the replacement bike was crashed into while parked - another bike down. I can't walk properly but I can ride. Get on a bike. #htfu
This reads very aggressive but was meant in jest, just in case you didn't realise.

What differentiates a hand from a fucking hand?

If you’re left or right handed

Anyone happen to have a hope pro4 12mm rear end cap set lying around? I’ve ended up with 2 front wheel kits 🤦🏼♂️

But if you buy a used shock there's a good chance it will need a service too...
In my experience second hand MTB bits tend to be pretty knackered compared to road stuff.
-
• #12624
Well yeah, depends on condition. A new one looks to be maybe 120-150 quid, which is more than the bike. It seems to be holding air though so maybe it's not as bad as I remember and it was the forks that were the most annoying thing. I wouldn't know what suspension is supposed to feel like anyway, since I never ride off-road. :S

Would hanging a bike on the wall on the front axle with Rockshocks damage the fork do you reckon?
Ok, just fiddled. With ETA on the forks compresses down.
If you turn it off the fork extends more.
So, I could probably run it enabled and that would take away a lot of the bobbing.
