• And as a postscript, and relating to the London Borough of Hillingdon rather than just Ruislip.
Hillingdon Hospital has never really been fit for purpose. Some of the wards are essentially still patched up Nissen Huts, and with an aging population more space is needed for just about every health provision.
Fews bits of a jigsaw are juggled. Brunel University has the space for a Medi-Parc to have a(nother) teaching hospital. Land of existing Hillingdon hospital can be sold for housing to part fund the new development. Transpires the Dept. of Health only signs off, (not funds) one major hospital development per year. HH2 near top of list. Another report moves it to the top and documents are readied for signature. Then dePfeffel, (local MP), resigns. So what? In the ensuing reshuffle Jeremy Hunt becomes Foreign Secretary, leaving the DoH with just a No.2*. New Minister cannot be expected to sign off without being fully briefed. Then the Summer Recess, then Conference season, then .......
Optimists were told to expect news in October.
(*Tory party so bereft of backbench talent Hunt's No.2 is Lord So&so!).
