As danb has suggested, room placement can make a big difference. Depending on if / how the speakers are ported, moving towards or away from the wall can increase bass perception. Worth experimenting with.
I'm not familiar with the Cyrus amp you have; I did have a Cyrus 2 at one point, that was a good amp.
In general, dynamic headroom is always good. The idea of using a separate power amp has merit, however it's difficult to know if that will fill in the bass you feel is missing, as there are lots of possible causes.
I’m not after lower bass, just a more balanced contribution from the drivers.
The R300s are the biggest stand mounted speakers Kef make, they’re hardly bookshelf speakers!
And yes, they’re on good quality stands.
