Jeezzz, what size is that chaining, 58??
-

It's offset by a similarly massive cog at the back, but goddammit it looks good. Makes me think about changing my gearing again, I went from 48/17 to 51/18 mostly for the looks - seems like I should go 60/21 instead :D

Someone plse buy this, used to see it hanging in the shop originally, whilst good photos it’s stunning in the flesh

Yeah did see that, still looks mad overall. Any benefits fitting big sizes either end?? Yeah, looks wise got to have that high to low ratio, legs don't always agree though.

Well, I asked that question myself a while ago, and all in all, this is what people said: technically, a slight (very slight) amount of power savings due to the chain turning radius being larger, a slight decrease in wear for the same reason, and... better looks. That's pretty much it. Oh, but a slightly higher weight though. None of this is super important for someone who isn't racing at a relatively decent level, I don't think.
The thing about gearing though is that 59/21 (2.81) or 60/21 (2.86) is almost the same ratio as 48/17 (2.82), but it LOOKS more extreme. ;)

Appreciate the info. That is what I thought, minimum gain but maximum aesthetic.

well that is just lush
Really pains me to do this but needs must...
This exquisite frame was handbuilt by Kevin Sayles about 5 years ago.
It was built for the mechanic at Fitzrovia Bicycles, Alex @phasergunalex
I then bought it off the shop a couple of years ago but I've since moved house, growing family etc etc..
So, it's a Reynolds 853 frame with amazing bi-laminate lugs.
Proper track geometry with the original fork (also been built up with a carbon fork and it rides really nicely on the road!)
This frame looks ridiculously stunning in the flesh. Always gets lots of love from anyone who sees it :-)
Seat tube: 59cm C-T
Top tube: 56cm C-C
Head tube: 17cm
The frameset is in fantastic condition. So fucking nice!
£750 including postage from Manchester.
