Actually wouldn't a properly smooth intake be undesirable, in terms of having turbulence to help even out the fuel-air mix throughout each cylinderfull?
Polished smooth, yes. But an 80 grit finish is enough to create a decent boundary flow, it doesn't need to resemble a relief map of the Andes.
