Tx, been there done that but ignore the handwash at your own risk is my experience.
With one I machine washed the wool came out clumpy... But my Howie's merino can be washed ok. Also flung some silk stuff on at 40 with no problems.
But you just need to get it wrong once obviously... I dare not risk it on everything :)
Deodorant stains in handwash only clothing. Vinegar, lemon juice and baking powder just ain't the same as a nice 40 degree cycle with usual bio gel.
Oh, and special handwash washing gels for silk/wool that leech dye compared to £3 camping "clothes in a bucket" wash liquid and doesn't even destain or de-deodorant better. Or is that un-deodorant?
Handwash only you say? Yes I'm off to the self punishment thread... though maybe merino kit owners may empathise :)
