  • ^^ Going barefoot will solve the shoe dilemma and score mucho kl points.

    Edit: ^ or that!

  • I'll give it a go - there's a pool close to my house. It's nowhere near healed yet so I just need to hold my horses!

  • I don't know why it didn't occur before but there are loads of yoga poses that are seated, or doesn't involve weight on your feet. YouTube videos or go to a class, speak to a teacher and explain, most should try to be accommodating I'd have thought.

  • Sprint finish to just hit the black medal at DtD.

Locked out my knee on a step down and for a mo thought dnf was likely it was ok to run on but sore now.

Bitterly cold northerly wind, Rushup Edge was brutal.

Glorious morning in Hope but I'm going to drive back to MCR.

  • Nice one! I hear it's a bit snowy in Hathersage, did you get any?

  • There was a tiny bit of snow stuck on Rushup Edge but the snow from the morning was gone otherwise. It tried snowing at one point but only briefly.

  • Great work, looks like a pretty epic day/night out. Enjoy the recovery.

  • Gentle 9 miles around Pendle hill this morning to finish a 32 mile week with 7500ft. First big week in a while and first post injury - not a big week by this threads standards but feels good to be coming back to it.
Now to eat all the food.

  • Been down with a rotten (man) flu since Thurs which has banjaxed my attempts of getting 180km done this month :'(

  • It was all types of fun. The sprint finish off the last descent was like a slow-mo eyeballs out 5k effort.

Looks like you had a great race, chapeau!

  • Thanks! Conditions weren't great, in fact it felt like a trail run rather than a road race. The aim was to stay sub 6 minute miles all the way but then I got into a good group, which included Steph Twell, and stayed with it. She dropped me at about 10 miles but I managed to dig in an hold on for the sub 75 - VMLM championship qualifier - and a podium.

I'm ready for the next cross country race now. And a few celebratory beers.

  • Nice one & congrats on the LM champs spot too!

  • Nice one!

Frankfurt Marathon today: 2:42:49. Was on for 2:36/7 at halfway but it was bloody windy, and a few km after MsPub caught me at 30k - before finishing first woman off the mass start in 2:39 and seconds outside her pb - my dodgy hamstring started playing up. A gradual slowing turned into a hobble for the final mile. Not great, but when I crossed the line I immediately reflected that I'd run 2 mins quicker than Paris 10 years earlier. Privileged to be able to manage such times as a 46yo geezer. :)

  • That’s epic, I was keeping myself entertained on my very brief evening run by working out pace for different marathon times, you’ve just run significantly faster than my 5k time for 26.2 miles.

  • Well done Phil and Ms Pub. Amazing running

  • Great work Phil. Sounds like you have a good foundation for the cross country season now...

  • I think most people would be over the moon with that time, irrespective of age. Well done to you and Mrs PB.

  • Wow, where did you come in your age group?

  • Thanks all! It was a ridiculously competitive age group, I wasn't even top 20! Frankfurt seems to attract a lot of good club runners.

@juanito - My right foot's also flared up so may be skipping the next Surrey League but hopefully the mojo returns with healing!

  • It was a ridiculously competitive age group, I wasn't even top 20!

Blimey. Was that 45-50 or do they group 40-50? Regardless that's a good number flying around!

  • Yeah, 25th v45!

I somehow managed a double-air-shot at 34k just before things started going pear-shaped. But MsPub managed to out-do me by looking like she's actually enjoying herself.

  • #relationshipgoals
Seriously tho, super impressive running duo!

  • Reminds me of the Animalympics Marathon story!
