  • So, who on that list do you think he is better than?

  • There are a couple of elements of Ronaldo 1.0 that seem more vivid
now. First, it is easy to forget quite how good and how perfectly
realised that Ronaldo was in his final year at United. And to wonder
also what might have happened to that expressive, physically inventive
wide forward had he continued to develop that way.

The following year, his first in Madrid, Ronaldo began to concentrate
his powers, to became a more dazzlingly efficient footballer, a
machine for winning. As early as 2009-10, a third of his goals came
from the centre-forward position. Whereas the 23‑year‑old Ronaldo was
the final form of something else, a player that was in many ways more
    captivating.

It is easy to forget quite how good and how perfectly realised
Ronaldo was in his final year at United Not to mention still the
greatest the Premier League has seen. It is worth restating this. In
October 2008 Ronaldo was five weeks away from his first Ballon d’Or,
which he would win ahead of Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres and – in an
impressive 12th place – Emmanuel Adebayor of Arsenal.

By the turn of the year, Ronaldo was the best player in a team who had
just won the Champions League. Not to mention he was Ballon d’Or
winner, Fifa world player of the year, PFA player of the year, Fifpro
world player of the year, Uefa club player of the year, World Soccer
player of the year, European golden boot and Premier League and
Champions League top‑goalscorer. All of which, aged 23, puts Mo
Salah’s lone stellar season into perspective, or Harry Kane’s extended
peak, or the excellent form of Eden Hazard. They’re all very good. But
    this is genius-level stuff.

  • Ipswich have sacked Paul Hurst already, after only one win all season.

This comes after a summer where we compiled a list of our five most crucial players, and then sold them, with replacements from League One and League Two.

    Marcus Evans' previous managerial appointments:

    Roy Keane
    Paul Jewell
    Mick McCarthy

I'm going to start planning for games in Wycombe, Gillingham, or Stevenage.

  • Happy to pass on any tips for adjusting to life in League One.

  • I'm going to start planning for games in Wycombe, Gillingham, or Stevenage.

Stevenage are in League 2 so no need to self harm just yet. Worst pitch and grounds in league football. Or Crawley, fuck that place too.

  • 14 games really doesn't sound like long enough to prove yourself as a manager.

Now we're being linked with Paul Lambert FFS.

I'm so glad I'm busy most Saturdays nowadays.

  • No new stadium until the new year. Will probably ring it in with Europa league games.
Fuck! That PSV game was one we had to have. Not sure what we can do now to qualify, especially as we’ve got Barca as our last game in the group..

Man City next, hopefully we’ll have Dele and eriksen back to support Lamela in attack..

Verts being out injured has shown how good he is and how vital he is to our defence.. we haven’t looked as solid since he’s been out..

If we can get something out of the Man City game (I’m not that confident we can) will be good for our confidence and the title race.

  • You have my commiserations.

  • Back up to the hawthorns again today. Not sure I'm over Wednesdays game yet.

If the same happens against Blackburn, there'll be a riot.

  • the title race

I don’t think Spurs need to worry about that tbqhwy

What’s the story with the stadium palaver? An extra £100m of debt must be a bit or a worry.

  • 1/2 a harry kane

  • Wonder what Glenn Hoddle did in a previous life to deserve this.

  • cardiff city first team to score at anfield since feb

  • Terrible shame we conceded and lost +1gd on City. To win this league and compete with their billions we need to be getting at least +4 in these matches. Oh well.

  • Not funny. Not clever.

  • If you get out of a game against Cardiff without any serious injuries you breathe a huge sigh of relief and thank yourself it’s only twice a season.

  • Hoddle: 'You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime.’

  • A "quote" out of context, produced by a rat-journalist from The Times, who's proud to have the defenestration of Hoddle on his cv; and I'm less inclined than you to side with opportunistic politicians from Tony Blair downwards, who jumped on the bandwagon and effected Hoddle's dismissal from the England job. And because of all that crap, people like you think that he's not entitled to sympathy and respect when he's poorly. Nice.

  • His views are the absolute antithesis of sympathy.

  • What context would that “quote” be acceptable and from my understanding the subsequent superiority associated.

I’m not that familiar with the details but recall the uproar at the time. Not sure why someone who lacks respect or decency for others should be given it.

  • Not sure why we're having this discussion when FLDC are tearing up the LFGSS standings.
    When do we get forest?

  • And what are his views? Presumably, you know them all.
