The Pike's only about a 100g or so heavier than Dammit's Fox 34, the smaller wheels should be lighter. Will a similar travel carbon frame be noticeably heavier?
Not much luck finding anything carbon & well specced for under £2.5k

mmm.
The difference between my F-Si and my Habit in terms of speed, climbing, rolling is kind of astonishing. I'd expect he Scalpel to be closer to the F-Si in feel, but then again maybe not.
My Habit SE is not a bike I'd consider trying to ride over the SDW with. Maybe that's because it has heavy 2.35s on it. And maybe that's because I've got a racy fast hardtail. IDK...
But I guess the point isn't to compare to what Dammit already has, because it's not for him, it's for someone else, so we need to compare against some mythical small 29er trailified XC bike.

That front tyre could definitely get in the sea.

Might be better off getting something more XC, and buying a separate dropper post.

Spec says 120mm Lefty, images all show a Pike.

I suspect the colour of the Contessa would rule it out.
The Scalpel Si-3 looks cool, how would that react to being piloted around Swinley?

I'd say that would largely depend on the skills of the pilot, or lack thereof.

It's ok, Neil won't be riding this one.

It'll shock you to hear this, but I know of people with even less in the way of MTBing skills than him. It might be one of them.

Y’all take this stuff so seriously.
-
• #871
Well, the bike's not for me, so that rules out one of them.
-
• #872
Decided on which wheels you're getting yet....
-
• #873
I bought the cheapest ones. DONT TRY AND PROVE YOUR POINT ON ME.

• #874
But then they said I can’t have them coz out of stock... so I still don’t have any.

You should buy Dammit's wheels, so he can upgrade to carbon.
Pricey and more trail orientated / heavy compared to the Camber, above.
