Couldn't believe it? I don't think I've ever seen an interesting interview with Lizzie Deignan, I think people (both fans and journalists) sometimes confuse "good rider" with "interesting subject for interview". It's just a puff piece to promote the team.

You can’t have read many interviews with her then, as she generally has interesting and thought provoking views on women’s racing, the finances of women’s pro cycling and comparisons with the men’s professional sport.

Ben Swift back to Sky for next season. They are going to have a massive roster at this rate - Swift makes it 24 riders with conformed contracts, plus rumours of Sosa joining and the likes of Tao, Doull and Dibben still to be confirmed.

^ I was wondering who was out of contract over there too
Gaviria to UAE is official

Hmmm, so Swift out and Gavaria in for UAE. I like Swift, but you'd have to assume UAE are going to be happy with that.
-
• #19833
Swift was out of contract, but yeah, definite upgrade.
I very much doubt Kristoff is happy mind...

All three of Tao, Doull and Dibben are out of contract. They could renew all three, but it wouldn't surprise me if the latter doesn't get a renewal. I know he's been injured this year, but he's not really shown much when he has raced in the past 18 months, even when you take into account that he's the only one of those three with a pro win.

Was it Wegelius that said cycling is a 'what have you done for me lately?' sport? Might have been Vaughters.

Wasn't it Philippa York?

Sivakov will be hoping he makes more of an impression next year, I expect.
-
• #19838
It might well have been. I remember it being said as being the real reason riders finish races and Tours when common sense and medical advice would tell them to stop. A DNF at the end of the season is a DNF.
-
• #19839
I think they don't expect much in a rider's first year on the team, but if they are not making progress in the second year then a renewal is less likely. I think Sivakov exceeded expectations this year, as it's very rare for a Sky neo-pro to ride a GT.

Maybe, it's hard to stand out at Sky.

Understandable response. That should be 'being' not 'been'. Deary me.

Surely they'll renew Tao, he's had a stormer of a year, especially the first few months of the season. Was he only on a one year contract or has it been 2 years since he left Axeon? Checked, it has been 2 years!
-
• #19844
Sky have a habit of announcing contract extensions very late on in the year at the end of every season. I have no doubt that they've extended Tao's contract, it's just not been announced yet.

I think Tao is ace. During the Vuelta there was a cracking clip of him properly checking out a girl on the side of the ride.
Made me smile - in the heat of the moment blokeness shines through.
