Rest is best! My best marathon was after a week of virtually no running at all due to a calf niggle. You will be grand. I'm looking forward to tracking you and the others.
I signed up for a half marathon after being persuaded at training last night. So, this Sunday I'm going along to check how flat the towpaths round Walton-on-Thames are, and exactly what sort of shape I'm in.
I started running virtually from scratch at 34 with a decent background in cycling, and got to 1:23 half marathon within 8 months. Probably means I should've started running much younger, but I think anyone with a decent aerobic engine should be able to get to considerably quicker than 2 hr HM given a good few months to condition the legs for the extra pounding.
Hmmm... 4 days to Frankfurt Marathon and right hamstring still feeling slightly niggly after HM 10 days ago. Maybe a touch of taper madness but at least I've got good excuse for resting this week.
