• It appears the trick is to get the overall length of the box below 100cm? Beyond that I'm getting quotes for £100+

  • Thats a joke, give a call in the main office and they'll assist you i did post a full bike and cost only less than 50quid it weight between 8 to 9 kg

  • I've sent a bike within mainland UK through Parcel2go recently.
Used them loads of times before, including posting frames and wheels to Italy and a whole bike to Germany, never had a single issue.
This time I picked Hermes instead of the usual Parcelforce, BIG mistake that was.
The courier didn't show up on both arranged collection days, ignored my phone calls and lied about collection attempts judging by what their customer service has told me.
Parcel2go after I've contacted them changed my courier to parcelforce for free (apparently there's a £14ish charge for that). Parcelforce showed up, collected the bike and delivered as planned.
Lesson learned - avoid Hermes like the plague, worst courier experience ever, I really couldn't believe how bad they were.

  • Had a bad experience on hermes also they said they've delivered to the correct address takes 2 weeks fpr shitty email etc endup refunded on both side....

  • So I just sent a package via P4D and I've had the below email. Clearly with less than 2cm worth of difference, I'm going to challenge this, but any tips from anyone who has faced similar situations?

    Hello,

Please be aware that there is an extra charge to be processed on your order P4D1908490 and an invoice for under declared surcharge has been produced.
as you order is under declared

Please be advised this amount needs to be settled before any further services can be booked.

Please be advised our new email address is as follows help@p4dsupport.com
How would you rate the quality of this message?

  • My response for the record was;

    Dear Mandy,

Thank you for the below email. I wish to challenge these measurements and will require photographic proof before i will pay the invoice. I measured using a standard tape measure and i note the different is 2cm across all three measurements (e.g. within the margin of error), so i stand by my measurements.

I note that the amount is over what your website states for UPS packages (http://www.p4d.co.uk/faq-size-weight) as the surcharge so I'd be interested as to how this amount is determined.

Happy to discuss via phone as well.

  • I've had this before and kicked off at them, asked for proof and said I didn't agree to them taking payment automatically so would seek a chargeback through visa, they instantly dropped it but with a 'be more careful next time' so I am guessing the grounds they have to collect are pretty flimsy and they themselves don't have much proof other than the dims a courier company passes onto them.

  • Ah the chargeback through visa option sounds like a good threat to follow up with next week - how did you tone your email? Straight up aggressive or super pass agg polite?

  • I'm always polite in the sense that I don't make it personal but I don't dress up my words or do fake friendly either so...

Basically they have to send you some kind of objective evidence your parcel was outside measurements/margin of error. That's probably not possible for them to do to any degree that it would stand up in court so where 8/10 people might just pay it because they can't be fucked with the hassle, for the few that kick off they'll probably just waive it for the same reason.

  • Dear Claire,

Thank you for your email below. I re-emphasise, I have delivered a package with measurements and they are challenging those measurements and applying an additional charge. Without proof of their measurements, I will absolutely refuse to pay an additional invoices and will seek to chargeback via visa in case of any charges coming through.

They absolutely have to supply objective evidence that the measurements are outside what i supplied otherwise their claim has no validity whatsoever.

I don't wish to take this to an ombudsman body, but I will be forced to if no proof is produced.

    Kind Regards,

    Joseph Walsh

  • (In response to: Hello Joseph,

The carrier is asking for you to provide photographic evidence of the package that you sent to enable us to continue with the dispute please.

  • cheapest courier to send a frameset London to United States?

  • Hi! If you still need information about cheap parcel delivery company, I can recommend Parcel ABC. Delivery price compare site: https://www.parcelabc.co.uk/

  • Can anyone recommend a way to ship a tandem from the UK to Denmark?
I've requested quotes from shiply.com, but am not getting any replies (might be 'cause sunday?), and bikeflights.com returns an error message, saying FedEx is not responding.

  • Parcelforce

  • How much did you end up paying for the postage?

I have the wheels I want to ship to Denmark. 37 x 70 x 72, weight is 5,3kg. Don't find any thing cheaper than £70 which is way too much imho... Just 1 week ago my friend in Amsterdam
ordered the wheels from UK - paid £20 via Parcelforce. By using Parcelforce price calculator I get an insane price of £92 (cheapest available option). Any opinions what am I doing wrong?

  • It's really odd. I can ship frames from DK to UK for £15, but the other way around it's at least £50.

  • Can I ask with whom? I sent a small parcel to a mate in the UK and it cost me about the same. It would be good to know for future reference.

  • Use parcelmonkey

  • GLS company account. Just shoot me a pm, if you need something sent.

  • Thanks, will do.

  • Shipping a frame from the UK to USA. Can't seem to find anything cheaper than £200... Anyone done it recently and got any tips?

  • Leaving the hustle and bustle of the big city for my antipodean homeland (NZ) - anyone have recommendations for shipping bikes to the other side of the world?

  • Use ups via parcelmonkey
