  • Thanks for all the camera advice... I bought it as a student with many weeks of baked beans on toast resulting from the purchase, so feel I owe it another go. Shooting landscapes in Iceland in January are some of my favourite photography memories so I know how much fun it can be.

Think I maybe just need to accept this is how I personally use the camera, plus I have 35mm SLRs in the drawer, albeit they're a bit bigger than a rangefinder.

  • What focusing screen do you have on it? If it's standard then an upgraded one (acute matte or acute matte d) makes a big difference to the ease of focusing.

  • There you go, sounds like you're all set.

I'd probably experiment with the Hassie also - put some Tri-X in it and do some hand held shots around town for instance ? Do sunny 16 (and push the film if necessary to keep hand held), just for a different experience with it and to try to loosen up shooting with it ?
